Suzuki Early Childhood Education
Suzuki Early Childhood Education (ECE) is the realization of a child’s potential through active participation in the environment. Parent and child (prenatal, age 0-3) participate in 36 weekly interactive music classes throughout the school year. Parents enjoy watching their babies develop rhythmic and melodic awareness, memory and social skills. For further information about the ECE program, see our Early Childhood Education Brochure.
Headstart Program 2016-2017
Headstart Suzuki is a pre-instrumental programme designed to introduce three and four year olds to basic musical concepts and beginning Suzuki rhythms and repertoire. String and Flute Programs
All String & Flute students receive 36 weekly private lessons. Additionally, all students are assigned to a group class and an enrichment class (e.g., rhythmic reading, string orchestra); group and enrichment classes meet 15 times during the year on Saturdays. There are also numerous performing opportunities at studio and school recitals, as well as for community audiences. All students except Pre-Twinklers perform annually in the Kiwanis Music Festival as part of their group class.
Information about our Senior Ensembles Program available here.
Parents are at the core of the Suzuki approach, as they support their children’s practising at home. All new parents attend their first three private instrumental lessons without their children so that teachers can ensure the parents’ understanding of the basics of both the Suzuki philosophy and the instruments their children are about to study. Should a parent wish to withdraw after completing the three parent only lessons, fees for the remaining six weeks of term will be returned. As well, all new parents are required to attend the Parent Education classes which are held on group class dates, involving discussion of Suzuki philosophy, the Suzuki triangle, listening, motivation and practising.
One private lesson annually is set aside for a parent-teacher conference for all students, and there are additional lectures and workshops for both new and experienced Suzuki parents during the year.
